Columbia, S.C.— Mashburn Construction joined Marion County, the Marion County Library System, Saluda Architecture, Marion Healthcare Foundation, elected officials, and community members to celebrate the groundbreaking of the multi-million dollar expansion and renovation of the Marion County Library, marking the beginning of a transformational investment in one of the county's most treasured public institutions.

Founded in 1898, the Marion County Library has served generations of residents by promoting literacy, lifelong learning, and access to knowledge. Its historic 1905 Carnegie library has been a cornerstone of the community for more than a century, and this first major renovation and expansion in nearly 50 years represents a significant investment in its future. The project will thoughtfully preserve the library's historic character while transforming it into a modern, accessible facility through a new building addition, comprehensive renovation of the existing structure, restoration of key architectural features, modernization of building systems, accessibility upgrades, and significant site improvements. Upon completion, the expanded library will provide enhanced spaces for children's programming, technology, collaboration, and community engagement, creating a welcoming destination that honors its rich history while serving the evolving needs of Marion County for generations to come.
